About Alice

I am an award winning games designer and have just completed a Computer Game Design BA(Hons) at the University of Wales, Newport. I am interested primarily in a Junior Designer role as I have strong, original ideas and lots of creativity which I would like to use to challenge the exisiting industry and bring forth new thinking for creating games. Over the last few years on the course I have enjoyed experimenting with interesting visual treatments and have enjoyed using a wide range of outside influences as subject matter for my game concepts, particuarly drawing inspiration from Literature and Philosophy, an influence I hope to bring into the industry.
In February 2008 I won one of 25 international scholarships to the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco awarded by the IGDA, in which they paid for the ticket and provided us with a mentor for the duration of the conference. This was a valuable experience as I was exposed to a variety of industry professionals, which allowed me to indentify how my ideas and skills fit into the current industry.
In March 2009 myself and a team of 3 others from the University of Wales, Newport participated in the X48 Game Camp in association with Microsoft, Pixellab and Channel 4. We were asked to create a game for XNA in under 48 hours based on Charles Darwin. Our team created an interesting game based around natural selection in which you had to maintain an ecosystem that was threatened by various natural implications such as flowers, weeds and weather. The game was called Bellis Perennis and we were awarded 3rd prize.
As well as the current BA(Hons) course I completed an Art Foundation Diploma in 2006. I also have a keen interest in Music and have played various instruments such as guitar, bass and Piano in which I achieved a Grade 5 by the Associated Board. I am a keen muscian and enjoy bringing this aspect to my games.
